Xander
Hey, I’m Xander. I feel better when I am stronger than somebody else. It feels good to push other kids down, make them eat worms, and feel bad about themselves. I don’t see what’s wrong with it; my dad does the same thing to me. He says it’s important to show people who is in charge, and it’s important I know he is in charge. He still loves me even though he hurts me sometimes; he says he’s just trying to make me stronger.
I always have a choice.
when Xander comes to visit
Xander, like many children, has been oppressed into a limited belief system based on his father’s pain and probably learned behaviors. Xander feels helpless and out of control on the inside, so he uses the only thing he knows- bullying, violence, and aggression to get that energy out of his body. Feeling power over other kids helps him to feel less out of control. But that does not justify any of his behavior.
